What to know about VNY, and how we plan ground transportation there.
A business aviation airport
Van Nuys Airport is run by Los Angeles World Airports, the city department that also operates LAX, and is one of the busiest general aviation airports in the world. Its traffic is private jets, charters, flight schools and helicopters rather than scheduled airlines.
Because there is no passenger terminal, each FBO acts as its own small terminal with a lounge, parking and a gate to the ramp.
Finding your FBO
The FBOs sit on different sides of the field: Signature's three locations, Clay Lacy Aviation on Valjean Avenue and Jet Aviation on Roscoe Boulevard. Getting the name right saves a long drive around the airport fence.

Typical drive times from VNY
Depending on traffic: Encino 10 to 15 minutes, Calabasas and Hidden Hills 20 to 30, Universal City 20 to 30, Beverly Hills and Bel Air 30 to 50, Santa Monica 35 to 55, Malibu 40 to 60, and downtown Los Angeles 35 to 60.
The 405 through the Sepulveda Pass is the usual route to the Westside, and it slows sharply on weekday mornings and afternoons; we time departures for it.
Choosing the vehicle
An executive sedan seats 1-3 passengers, an executive SUV 1-6 passengers with room for hard cases, and a Mercedes Sprinter 10-14 passengers for a full cabin or crew.
For a quick hop, a sedan is enough; for a family with luggage or a team with equipment, choose the SUV or Sprinter.

What if the flight lands early or late?

Can you move a flight crew to their hotel?

Is Van Nuys the same as Burbank Airport?
